 Re: Please introduce yourself!
I suppose I should introduce myself as well. I haven't done so to this point and have been watching this site for a few months now. I am Gib Olson. I have had classical training and some theory. (Grade 8 Royal Conservatory and Grade 2 Theory) I am currently 58 and have played piano/organ/keyboards since I was 11. I play by ear and most of my piano and organ is in the form of accompaniment. I play for church mostly and so the classical part has helped me. I have found that my style has tended towards a jazz feel. I am discovering that a lot of what I do now has a name and terminology to it. (it was only by ear before...) I am enjoying discovering new ways of playing and being able to understand what I am doing at the same time. (ie... 6-2-5-1's with 2-5's of 6, alternate scales, block chords etc.) My goal is not necessarily soloing, but to be able to accompany freely like well... Bill Evans or Dianna Krall, or (perhaps little known) Doug MacKenzie (I love what he does. He has his own site) I hope this is a good start for introduction. I am still looking forward very much to the comp lesson when it comes out. Question: are there any utube type videos out there of what individuals have put up for critiquing there playing? Just thought that would be a bit of a help in understanding where everyone is at. Thanks.... Gib

 Re: Please introduce yourself!
Hello, I am Eric from Boulder, Colorado, right next to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I'm an IT guy in my mid-50's, and I was inspired by my talented Celtic fiddler son to take up a musical instrument in the hopes of playing with him. I've had 5 years of lessons on the piano, mostly classical with a good foundation in music theory. But I've loved jazz as well for many years, and am enjoying the chance to develop my improvisational skills. Nice to meet you all!

 Re: Please introduce yourself!
Hi, Bill Burkett from the 'Colonies', as my cousin in Whittlesee says. I am 64+, play the bagpipes, harmonicas, and bass trombone (in an 18 piece big band.) I have played around with the keyboards for many years - have several pieces published and at one time did lots of arranging and orchestrating. I have always wanted to really play the jazz / blues piano. I am going to try to devote at least 45 minutes a day to the lessons. I am a faculty chair (undergrad IT) for a University that is fully online - it is in Minneapolis and I am in S. Florida. Any help or suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks, Bill

 Re: Please introduce yourself!
I'm Alex (username is a bit of a hint), 30 and I reside in London so am lucky enough to have lessons with Paul.
I've always been into piano and Jazz of all forms and try to squeeze in as much practice as possible around work/football/life.
Nice to meet you all.
