 My next podcast
I thought it a good idea to give you advance notice that my next podcast will be based on the Rodgers and Hart tune 'Have You Met Miss Jones.'
I've chosen it as it has a notoriously challenging bridge that moves from the home key of F into Bb but then immediately heads off into a series of 251s in other keys (rather reminiscent of Giant Steps) before taking us back to home. It's the usual AABA structure of 32 bars. There's a never-ending supply of great versions but Stan Getz is as good a place to start as any.
I"ll upload a chart soon.
Best wishes to all
Paul

 Re: My next podcast
Hello and happy new year! I've just uploaded episode 23 and this will explain everything. But meanwhile start by only using the chords that don't have brackets. These bracketed chords above the main ones are substitutes - so instead of using the D7 for a whole bar you can use Am7 for 2 beats and D7 for 2 beats. This gives you a two/five instead of just the five (I'm assuming you know what I mean by two/five/one). The episode is not yet available from this site but you can download it from itunes or my website www.jazzpianoteacher.co.ukPaul

 Re: My next podcast
Paul asked me to post my question here:
In Re: Miss Jones podcast
What's wrong with going lower in the bass, down to the second C below middle C? For example, if I see C7 I go C-Bb higher, or C-C down low. F7 is always F-Eb. In other words, no need to raise the register of the melody.
